5 Things Timothy Corrigan: Five Things I Cannot Live Without…

Truth be told, I had not heard of Timothy Corrigan until the April 2012 issue of Architectural Digest. But there in the pages of the magazine was his stunning Los Angeles mansion and I became an instant fan. I was drawn to his use of classical elements like a graceful staircase, gilded mirrors, gold leaf ceiling, smattering of busts and sculptures, and furniture, that while formal, remains inviting. It’s difficult to put his style into words because to do would be a disservice to his talent of mixing periods and creating spaces that elegant and warm and rich. Rich and lush, the kind of aesthetic that you can’t DIY or do on the cheap because you won’t get the same mood and atmosphere. Majestic comes to mind too. And comfortable. I know it sounds a bit of an oxymoron to say that a space is majestic and comfortable because these adjectives are such polar opposites but you just have to see his work to see for yourself. (You can view the images of his home from Architectural Digest HERE to see what I am talking about.)  ”A room is only successful if it is comfortable,” he was once quoted saying.

Corrigan also has a home furnishings store in Los Angeles, California and sells European antiques that he has selected himself.

Below, Timothy Corrigan shares the Five Things He Cannot Live Without…

1. Books—history, art, architecture, novels…you name it!

2. My iPhone—a great camera, my calendar and all contacts in one place.

3. Junk food and Diet Coke—I can’t help myself

4. My friends are my family

5. My house in France, the Chateau du Grand-Luce’, is heaven on earth for me!
