Lifestyle Style Intel Reads: New Books From Barbara Barry, Charlotte Moss, Nate Berkus, Thom Filicia And More

Around Beauty by Barbara Barry; Flowers by Carolyne Roehm; and My Scrapbooks by Charlotte Moss

After talking about Kelly Wearstler‘s new book Rhapsody on my last post, I would like to take that as a jumping off point to feature books I am looking to add to my library. Just as fashion has new clothes for fall, the publishing world is also gearing up for fall releases. On the top of my list are books from decorating doyennes—and my personal favorites—Barbara Barry, Charlotte Moss and Carolyne Roehm. Around Beauty is the first book of Barry. I am expecting to see pages and pages of immaculate rooms and stylish vignettes in the book plus insights on how she arrived at her very polished and uptown design aesthetic. Moss’s My Scrapbooks is sure to be a colorful and inspiring book what with the decorators penchant for putting together images, mementos and assortments of things that inspire her. I love Roehm’s cover for her book Flowers. It reminds me so much of an Irving Penn still life or of a photograph of my new favorite Paul Lange.

Other books I am looking forward to this fall are those from Nate Berkus (The Things That Matter) and Thom Filicia (American Beauty). I always refer to their first books whenever I am in a decorating bind. So I can’t wait to learn more. Of course I am also anticipating the release of the book of my friend Heather Clawson (Habitually Chic: Creativity At Work), which will give us an insider tour at the work spaces of many of our favorite creative personalities in the worlds of art and fashion.

And speaking of fashion, Vogue editor and visionary Grace Coddington has penned her memoir and Vogue has compiled the weddings they’ve featured in the magazine in a lush coffee table called Vogue Weddings: Brides, Dress, Designers featuring Lauren Santo Domingo and her Olivier Theyskens wedding gown on the cover.
